Surprisingly my ritualist did all that also.
Which means you can't use a rit properly.
In which case ... why would we believe you that mesmers are ok?
There's one thing saying that things work per se and other thing to get the things to work.
You can make empty skillbars work in PvE.
Does that mean empty skillbars work in PvE per se?
The mesmer has issues but they can be overcome because of the simplicity of PvE.
Something like the necro - also deals with the simplicity of the PvE - but without the issues.
Probably the best thing about going mesmer primary in PvE is that you can run Assassin's Promise.

Every class can do everything in PvE and that is a pretty terrible reason not to give something buffs/nerfs.

Your basing your logic and reasoning on purely personal experience as opposed to community trends and complaints, not to mention the fact that mesmer degen, interrupting and shutdown are unwanted fail in 99% of PvE when compared to DPS and the fact other classes can do what a mesmer can....often better.
Just walk around any PvE area and look out for mesmers. It's like an MMO equivalent of "Where's Wally".
That alone speaks volumes.
Hopefully they get some long deserved Anet lurve this update as I love the classes concept even if it fails in PvE execution.

Exactly. Who needs interrupts or shutdown? You can just kill before they get to attack/cast a spell. Then shutdown is useless, so are interrupts.

That's totally false. Said from a ranger is very strange too ...
Try to vanquish Eastern Frontiers with a 4 man party (like me and my friend did with our overpowered rangers) only with damage, you will fail.
What is true is that mesmers' ability in destroying casters in PvE is not even comparable to what a ranger can do, probably the only really significant mesmer spell for this task is Diversion, which requires a skilled player to be used properly.

,,Said from a ranger''.
We are talking about Mesmers, right? Ranger can bring BHA + Volley + Splinter Weapon and pwn mobs. Mesmer doesn't have dazed + aoe damage every 5 seconds and 4 places for utility + rez.
Or BHA + volley + Epidemic. AoE interrupts every few seconds.
Try going W/P Earthshaker with a Splinter Weapon hero, you will kill all monsters before Mesmer will be able to finish casting Diversion. KD > interrupts on most of the enemies.

2 warriors.
2 monks.
Smash, smash, smash - and we kept on smashing until the foe monkies pretty much ran out of energy.
TBH - the builds we ran were quite bad (mine didn't include any PvE skills and my guildy believes in Light Of Deldrimor) - I never play my warrior (just like my monky I only have him because I wanted some pretty armour so he barely had any skills) and my guildy doesn't believe in running an IAS.

The most skilled use of Diversion in PvE requires you to leave it off your skillbar. In PvE - most foes will use a skill once and then die. So Diversion achieves nothing.

The updates buffs are quite interesting and there doesn't seem to be any nerfs. I couldn't see any Ranger, Para or Dervish changes so I don't know if they were omitted from the image or if there are none.
I look forward to seeing what else is new.

That's a bit of a silly thing to say tbh. Maybe you should amend that to "I failed to vanquish Eastern Frontiers with only damage. "
Besides hasn't the old "Mesmers need a buff in PvE --> No they are good if you know how to use them --> No they suck" argument gone through the wringer a thousand times? Get some new lines people!
Oh, and yeah, update and stuff. I'm sure it's coming, it will cause monster QQing, and nothing will really change.
Cynically yours...

Yes, it's an old arguement. I stopped participating in the debate here on the forums a long time ago. I'm of the "Mesmers are good in PvE..." mindset, but I think the right kind of buffs to the class will go a long way towards ending the debate once and for all.

So that's why it's called a 'monster update'

Hello all! I left GW going on a year ago. Now I am lured back, at least to this forum, by news of this "Monster Update." Will it get me and other departed players to give GW another shot? I hope so.
Many adventures while gone, but one of them was Hellgate London -- which appears now to be deceased, more or less, since Flagship Studios went broke.
Now just before Doomsday came for Hellgate London, all were awaiting the glorious and wondrous super patch for that game known as Patch 2.0. But the end of the world for Hellgate London came instead.
Well, Anet seems to be financially stable at least. Real question in my own mind is whether or not after the "Monster Patch" there is going to be any class here that can equal the excitement and pleasure of my Level 50 Hellgate Engineer. You would not believe the weapons and gear that guy had. He was a one man walking holocaust! But that game at the upper levels shoveled out hordes of monsters that needed every bit of DPS he could ish out.
Geez, I'm homesick already ... and there's no home to go back to.

What more do you people want? a skill that causes 10 minute blackout on all foes on the map?
|
As has mine.
Yet i aggree mesmers need to be looked at. The main source of damage in modern PvE mesmer builds use PvE only skills that are not tied to a mesmer attribute. CoP can be abused my a full team on any profession, heck even the monks can take a copy. The req of any mesmer hex can easily be met by using any cheap spammable hex on one or two party members.
Mesmers need more buffs to skills in the style of treatment clumsiness and wandering eye got. AoE ability on skills that does not force the skills to be OP in PvP. Additional effects on inspiration skills to replace the loss of effectiveness of energy denial would also be handy.
Personally i would have liked various skills to have gotten axtra abilities if used againt non-human foes such as [[club of a thousand bears], but we got the pve/pvp split instead which could be used to fix alot of mesmer issues, specifically in inspiration line.
just because you can complete all zones with a mesmer it does not mean mesmer primary is on par with other professions in PvE. They work, but then so do alot of things.
The only reason my mesmer is used above other proessions with more useful primary atts for pve running the same build is because my mesmer has maxed titles when my necro for example does not. PvE skills work but are merely a crutch.
Also, i would like to see pve buffs to skills such as mistrust. They are currently the most effective disruption skills for mesmers to use in HM because of the rediculous casting boosts the foes get. Or at least recharge drops for skills that lower cast time on foes.

Yeah, if Anet don't fix things properly this time around, then they're boned. The game sucks for balance already, but doing a bad update...
Monster QQing will be true methinks.
